by Brian Fisher

Anyone knows how to convert VOB to iMovie so that I can edit them?

VOB files usually exist on DVD discs, or are downloaded from movie sharing sites. When you put a commercial DVD disc and home DVD disc, you'll see lots of VOB files there. Besides VOB files, you'll also find IFO and BUP files inside the Video_TS folder. When you try to import VOB files to iMovie for editing, you'll find out that all VOB files in the Video_TS folder are just greyed out.

Why?

The answer is, VOB is not supported by iMovie. To edit VOB files in iMovie (no matter iMovie HD, iMovie 08, iMovie 09, or iMovie 11), you have to convert VOB to iMovie supported formats firstly. iMovie supports MOV, M4V and AVI with M-JPEG encoded.
